Emcee Lug

I'm Emcee Lug. I write my own lyrics. I dont bite lines. When I spit a freestyle, it's actually a freestyle. I'll batte anyone, no matter if it's track or freestyle, because I've got the drive to win.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
I was bred, born, and raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota. I spent my childhood getting beat up for being a chubby white boy in the heart of the North Minneapolis Ghetto. When I was 13, my house burnt down and me and the family evenutally took a move out to the suburbs, where i ended up getting kicked out of school several times before finally dropping out. Me and a guy I met online talked for a long while about starting up a metal band, and when I finally went out to meet him, my life changed. His brother is involved in local Hip-Hop(Tha Menace), and we all talked about that. One of their neighbors, Mac Dogg stopped by, and they started reminiscing about the "old freestyle days" they had, and decided to start one up. Back in high school me and a friend of mine wrote alot of horror core lyrics. They had no structure, no hooks, no beats, or anything like that, and the idea of starting a group fizzled out rather quickly. Even in all of that I had never attempted to freestyle, I'll even go as far as saying the idea had never crossed my mind. But, not being one that gives up quickly, I decided to try anyways. For the circumstances, I'll say I did fairly decent. Afterwords, Tha Menace told me I had potential, and to keep it up, and at that point the idea of a metal band worked itself out of my mind, and I focused on Hip-Hop. Sometime in 2004 I started talking to a man by the name of Vermillion, formerly the drummer of the band Down Theory. We started playing around with recordings at my house and his, and the idea of Below Zero Productions came up, and we decided to start it. Shortly after we had lost contact, but I kept the idea alive, recruiting others along the way. In May of 2006 Vermillion started butting heads, and I decided to leave my dream behind, and left Below Zero. Before I had even made the anouncement to Vermillion, I mentioned it to Tha Menace. He offered me a spot with him on Cold North and I jumped on the chance. The short time currently spent with CNE has turned out much more productive and Tha Menace and myself formed the group Merkabilities, and shortly after Jimmy Donn joined us, only to be removed from the group shorty after.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
From the cypher circle to center stage.
Your musical influences
Everything in my life is an influence.. The people I meet, the obstacles I face, the ones I overcome, the ones I dont... everything. I write about my life. Sometimes I write about absolutley nothing at all. I am my own influence. My brain makes it happen, and my body is just along for the ride. Musically, some of my influences are: Tha Menace, Liquid Assassin, Slug, Eyedea, Fat C, Jimmy Donn, Immortal Technique, South Park Mexican, Tech N9ne, Kanye West, Chamillionaire.... I'm sure theres more... we'll save that for later
What equipment do you use?
Personally I have an MXL 990 that runs through a M-Audio Mobile Pre into my laptop, but the only recording I do is for concepts.
Anything else?
I'm always down to cut a track with anyone about anything. Just hit me up.
