I'm Emcee Joe from Stockholm, Sweden.Band/artist history
I first started rappin about two years ago. My greatest influences came from my friends, and many of them were rapping already by then.
Me and a few of my friends decided to record a few tracks just for fun - at this time, we were about fifteen or sixteen years old, so it wasn't that serious.
Then, people actually started to like my way of making music, so I quickly decided to be more serious about it.
At first, I was mostly rapping in swedish, but after been rapping about a year, I also tried the english language and found it to be the best language to rap in, because it has so many different words which makes it easy to write and rhyme, plus I like the sound of the language. So I quickly found myself home into the language, and many of my friends also have background in english-speaking countries so they also use the english language.
Now, at the age of nineteen, I still have a lot to learn, but in a few months, I'm going to perform in the UK...Your musical influences
I have taken a lot of influences from both mainstream artists as well as lesser known underground artists, but I always try to keep having my own style.
My main influences on the mainstream rap scene are Nas, Mobb Deep, Jadakiss and Fat Joe, and a little bit of Tupac. On the soul/r & b side, my influences are Akon, R Kelly and of course the great old soul men like Marvin Gaye. I also take many influences from reggae, with my biggest idol beeing Bob Marley.Anything else?
I just wanna point out that the most important thing in the world is "Respect". Respect is necessary to any kind of collaboration or integration with other people. Without respect, there will not be a functional community.
