I'm a solo artist so I just go by my name - Elena TrevinoBand/artist history
I would have to say that the core of 'my band' would consist of my husband and myself, as well as friends who invite us to play/sing with them at church. Chon and I have actually been "a band" since high school. Back then, he would play his guitar for me at different functions. Growing up, I was in a gospel singing group made up family members and friends. Sang in different groups here and there and have consistently been a part of the PromiseLand Central (called The World of Pentecost-back then) Choir since 1998, in Austin Texas.Have you performed in front of an audience?Yes. Pretty much anywhere a door is opened and I'm invited in. Mostly church prayer meetings, church events and citywide prayer meetings. I love it! It feels right when I'm doing it - I'm in my "element" as they say. It's what I was created to do - I believe this with all my heart!! Special moments? I can think of a few but the MOST special is when I'm allowed to "Enter In" to the Holy Place .... there's NO other moment that surpasses those!!
Your musical influences
My first influence - my eldest brother Leonard. He would sit on the porch steps singing his songs and playing his guitar. I can remember sitting at his feet and soaking it all in! My husband, Chon would be the next and from then on, there have been others along the way. Jacob Lowery, tremendously talented musican and producer of my first album. It's awesome how our roads crossed. This young man has been a tremendous blessing in my life. Two of my "childhood" dreams - literally - have come forth thru him. John Ragsdale's annointed worship - he's got a key that only he carries that gets me to chambers of God's presence like no other can. Others like Randy Phillips of PCD, Hope and Jerry Snider, PJ Cooke, Nicole Banks and Alan Barley.What equipment do you use?
Me - a mic, stool and a stand! The rest of the stuff - I'd have to ask my husband ... he's the soundman! : )Anything else?
I love Jesus! He's my first love and will always be! He is everything to me - truly! My husband Chon, who has supported me and joined with me in this dream of ours! Our daughters - Angela and Kristina - are so very precious in my life. My mom and dad (both sets) - I would NOT be who I am today, had they not made the choices they made in their lives back then. All of my family - brothers, sisters (both sides) have been so instrumental in my life. From making tamales to help me raise money for my first project, praying, encouraging me and believing in me plus so much more! Then, my Mathis, Austin & Pflugerville families made up of old friends, co-workers, neighbors - what a support group! Lastly, my Promiseland family and all whose paths I've crossed since I've been there - divine friendships, divine destiny and dreams fulfilled ... all at the PromiseLand. My Bishop and his wonderful wife - Wanda - for taking me into their hearts from the first time they met me; for pushing me out of the nest in more flights than one! For Erik and Isabel Wurl - for sharing one of the neatest moments of my life and running with it! So many prayer partners and supporters who I am sooo thankful for. There are so many others (Like Charlotte and Alex) who have been so instrumental in the BIG picture of my destiny. I am just so thankful and feel so humble and undeserving. God is truly the maker and finisher of our faith and our dreams and destinies. My life is in His hands ... come what may!!
