The story of Elektrikalorius began in the mid-80's, when three obscure studio rats laboured away, refining their analog wizardry with catchy hooks and punchy melodies. The result was endless hours of analog recordings that, until now, have gone unheard. Fifteen years later, Elektrikal Records now proudly presents their polished 80's sound in a re-mixed digital format. Several tracks have been completely omitted, whereas a few vocal tracks and effects have been introduced. But enough about us, let the music do the talking. Throw on the disc, light a cigarette, and check the vibe.
Band/artist history
The birth of Elektrikal Records is about as random as it gets. The story of Elektrikal Records and the timely re-birth of Elektrikalorius began coincidentally in Nørrebro, Copenhagen in March, 2002. It was around this time when Troels, a founding member of Elektrikal Records and an audio junky to boot, stumbled across an old an old reel-to-reel 8 track recorder for sale in a local junk shop. He purchased the machine, including some worn out tape already in the machine, for the measely sum of 700 Danish Crowns. Desperate to get to work with his new find, he rushed home to get it all set up. He wanted to begin recording using the old tape, but immediately noticed that there were already tracks recorded on it. The tape had a label on it with the name Elektrikalorius and a phone number. He played the tracks, only to be swayed by a sound from a time long ago. It was clear that these recordings were very old. However, upon playing the hours of music over and over again, he realized that there was a lost gem in these tracks. Forgotten sounds of a world long past. A few weeks later, he had a party at his flat, and told the story while playing the music. People noticed and were intrigued. Soon he starting bringing them to all the parties, as it became an ongoing theme. The more people listened, the more they fell for the sound. Drunken talks soon turned into midday brainstorming sessions, where the idea came to start covering the music. But who were these guys Elektrikalorius? Sometime around May, 2002, the phone call was finally made to the mysterious phone number to see what would happen. A woman answered. Once Troels told her about the tape, and the name Elektrikalorius, she said that it was from her son who had made the tape together with his friends. She eventually gave us Mugge's number in Los Angeles. BOOM. The connection was made, and we finally had the man behind this music on the phone. He laughed and was happy to hear the enthusiasm for this forgotten sound. We talked long and hard, and the rest, well, is history...
