Electric Brain Fungus

Electric Brain Fungus is the alias used by Dan Ellison to put out solo compositions. As Dan is inspired by different things, his music reflects that and fits into a wide range of genres. Experimental, noise, progressive, comedy, and plain old rock.
Band/artist history
Dan was always a musical person, having played the clarinet, trombone, and keyboards (by ear) in the past. He now plays a Gibson Epiphone bass and a little bit of keyboard (still by ear). In November of 2004 Dan joined a still unnamed group that included Sam Novak (lead guitar) and Jon Chiapetta (rhythm guitar). Unfortuantely they haven't been able to find a permanent drummer so when they jam they simply use friends who can sit in and bang the skins. Dan started Electric Brain Fungus in September/October of 2005 as a way of creating music that is not necessarily playable live just because it is heavily processed.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
Electric Brain Fungus is fairly new to the music scene. Dan has only played live a select number of times with his 4-piece band who are unnamed. Besides, the music of Electric Brain Fungus is heavily processed and much of it is impossible to play live. However, Dan lives for getting up on stage and performing.
Your musical influences
Anyone who knows Dan will tell you he is a die-hard Pink Floyd fan. His other influences include the Beatles, Frank Zappa, Hair Police, Wolf Eyes, John Lennon, Yes, Jimi Hendrix, the Doors, Bob Dylan, the 13th Floor Elevators, Deep Purple, Aerosmith, Led Zeppelin, Tangerine Dream, Amorphous Androgynous, Emerson, Lake & Palmer, Nuclear Rabbit and Mr. Bungle
What equipment do you use?
As Dan will tell you, he knows close to nothing about eqipment models. He knows how to play the instrument, but models are pretty much useless to him. It's the sound that counts.
