Singer, Songwriter and Virginian. I write and play in a traditional country format but stray to other styles of music from time to time. Basically, I write songs and with a little help from co-writers and talented musicians, I record a few along the way. Hopefully, my buddies in Nashville will allow me to ride their coattails into the Music Industry and possibly even share in a top-10 hit song. Time will tell and until then, I'm just having fun.Band/artist history
Born in Louisiana and a N.C. native, Eddy began writing music and playing guitar while studying at the University of NC at Wilmington. In his mid twenties, he began playing some solo gigs, private parties and weddings around Richmond, VA. He also became more involved with VOCAL - The Virginia Organization of Songwriters and Lyricists and worked toward writing more commercial material. That led to performances with The Floating Folk Festival, a local music cooperative of artists and musicians. His original material was accepted by the group and earned him a song spot on their 1st, 2nd and soon to be released 3rd, collaboration CD under the Planetary Music record label. The two songs featured, This Beers On Me and If I Turned Country, both faired in their reviews by local critics and Eddy now awaits the release of Vol. 3 and his cut The Bottom of the Bottle.Have you performed in front of an audience? You may find me hanging around a group called the Floating Folk Festival in Richmond, Virginia which serves as a large artist base for different venues around the city. I also partner up with Mark Daniels and his band, "The Armadillo's" where we'll perform at the Glen Allan Cultural Arts Center or at some festival needing a bit of country twang. Then there may be a neighborhood party or two during the summer that I'm called for and I fill the ticket with an array of cover tunes. Other than that, you'll find me sharing ideas with Tim Keesee who is one heck of a songwriter and friend. Check him out here...Tim Keesee! I think I sang on a few of his songs over the years.
Your musical influences
I have listened to anything and everything along the way. James Taylor, Bob Marley and Lenny Kravitz have been some of my favorite artists. What equipment do you use?
Typical Amps and Processors along with my Alverez Acoustic Guitar.Anything else?
Reviews:
Texas Ed's "This Beer's On Me" is an authentic, hard, honky tonk number that puts you square in the middle of the bar room with swinging doors and sawdust on the floor. Dwight Yoakum should consider doing this on his next CD. It would be #1 with a bullet.
Review of the Floating Folk Festival, Vol. 1 - CD by Master Breakdown, Richmond Music Journal, Apr 1999
The second (Floating Folk Festival compilation) collection, drawn from these loosely aligned local musicians, features a worthy group of acoustic-based tunes that ably represent a slice of the citys current singer/songwriter scene. Each song holds its surprises and my favorites are many. Texas Eds, If I Turn Country, paints a pointed portrait at everyones favorite clueless redneck.
