All of our friends and families, our brothers and sisters, and all of the comfort he has given us throughout all these years. We all have many things to be thankful for! In the final analysis, the truth of God and His Holy Spirit always triumphs. Heaven and Earth shall pass away but the truth of God and His only "begotten son" Jesus, shall stand forever. It was the worst of years; it was the best of times.........It was the epoch of belief...........when everything went wrong, and then everything went right because of God's Holy Spirit...leading, guiding and directing our pathways to His righteousness. The Emmanuel Baptist Church Male Chorus...........was officially inaugurated in October 1978, after previous attempts since 1973. Spurred on by the visit of Reverend James Cleveland and his group to San Jose,California in early 1973, attempts were made to start a male chorus. However.....the group then disbanded six months after its inception. The current EBC Male Chorus was born... out of a need to provide music for the 8:00a.m. Sunday Service, as the church did not have a choir during this service. The group got its first assignment to sing at the early morning service for six months after its inception. During this assignment, a quintet of chorus members glorified God and His Son, Jesus,in songs. Since that time, the chorus sings monthly for Emmanuel's Church Service and many other external functions.All the founding members comprised of 18 brethren, namely: Percy Wade, Chester Hutchinson, Larry Childress, Deacon Carl Mayes, Dennis Mitchell,Bro. Lowell Shepard, Al Winston, Reverend Ed Thomas, Reverend Don Sylvestri, Johnny Gipson, Richard Hall, Gerald Guess, Joe McNeely, Deacon Moses Jenkins, Deacon Vernon Smith, Bro.Rubin Swendell,John Myles,and Willie Everett. Of all those founding members,three brothers are still active in the group today----Larry Childress, Chester Hutchinson,and Percy Wade. Among other noteworthy assignments undertaken by the Male Chorus.......were visits to Veterans Administration Hospital in Yountville, California to minister in songs to convalescing veterans. The group also visited Los Angeles, San Diego, Sacramento......and Stockton California, as well as recently, Montgomery Alabama, Atlanta Georgia,and Mississippi. The chorus has also often performed at the Elmwood Correctional Facility in Milpitas, California,Tehachapi Prison, and they Regularly visit youth at the Martinez California Juvenile Facility. The group also sang during Black History Week at Evergreen College. Above all we thank God for his only begotten Son. We are indebted to our wives and families,and Dr. Willie T.
