Dust of Broken Heart heart is a Synthpop band roaring out of North Carolina. They are two 20 year old virtuosos who have been playing classical music for quite a long time and have now moved their knowledge to the electronic realm.

Band/artist history

I (Aaron) had been independently making music for about 7 years under the name Fluxx Capacitor.  Really, the deeper I got into it, the more I felt that it really had no future without vocals.  My own abilities as a vocalist sucked, hard, so I didn't pursue that too much. I spent a lot of time talking about the whole project at work, whining to Lex about how I needed a vocalist.  I never even thought to ask her because all I had heard from her was how she coculdn't sing.  But then one day, I had written a couple of tunes (later to be, Marcus the Robot, Leaving on a Jetplane and Angels We Have Heard on High) and I was really laying it on thick about how I couldn't finish them without vocals and blah blah blah.  Maybe she just couldn't take my whining, who knows, but she uttered three simple words that would change the course of the entire music industry! (dramatization)  She said "I could try."  
My eyes lit up, I stared at her for a minute, and that was it.  A band was born.
That saturday I called her up and asked her when she was coming over.  She insisted to me that she couldn't sing, and honestly I wasn't over confident myself.  I had tried more than once to have a friend of mine sing for my tunes, hoping that they would be just good enough, but they never were.  So she came over, we sat down for a few hours in my "studio" (a corner of my living room) and knocked out our cover of John Denver's "Leaving on a Jetplane."  
We finished it up, I put the finishing touches on it and we sat there listening to the finished product.  As the song finished I gave her a wide eyed look and a smile crept across my face.
"Not too bad."  She said
"No...its pretty f**king good"  I replied
And a new name in Synthpop was born.

Have you performed in front of an audience?

Not yet, but really as soon as we have a few more tunes under our fingers we're going to start playing anywhere that will take us.

Your musical influences

Freezepop, Joy Electric, Fischerspooner, The Faint, The Human League, Devo, Royksopp, Tallis Scholars and some champagne, the Nau Ensemble and some weissbier.

What equipment do you use?

Pretty basic at this point.  I (Aaron) have been doing the electronic thing for a lot of years with just software, and I really felt the need to expand into the hardware realm in order to be able to facilitate live performances, etc.  So quite some time ago I fell in love with Korg's Microkorg in a Guitar Center in Virginia, and eventually got one for my own.  Shortly after that I got some info on older equipment since I wanted something a little bigger.  So I looked around and got myself a Roland Juno-106, which I love, but currently the voice 2 VCA chip has gone bad so its just sitting and rotting until I can find a replacement part somewhere.  Future Gear?  Alesis Micron, Moog Liberation, Roland JV-80, those three are pretty close to the top of my list of what I'd like to have in my gear box.
