D Sloan of 1 AM
D Sloan (Derek Jay Sloan) was born on May 26th, 1987 at St Rose Hospital in Hayward, CA. Growing up in a neighborhood surrounded by negative influences; he decided to become involved in sports such as Basketball, Baseball, and Tae Kwon Do. In August 2000, he relocated to Tracy, CA where he then continued on to play sports throughout high school. While heavily involved in sports, he began writing daily thoughts in a notebook. In early 2002, he began listening to instrumentals and turning those same thoughts into verses. The freedom of expression gave D Sloan confidence and happiness which lead him to decide to continue developing his skills to becoming a complete music artist. From free styling in the back of cars on Friday nights with friends to purchasing his own home studio equipment, the transition was amazing. D Sloan has featured on numerous amounts of material as well as priding himself on having a solid body of work. Mixtapes such as “Answer To Your Problems Vol 1â€, “Answer To Your Problems Vol 2â€, and “Global Service Announcement†show a wide range of versatility along with intellectual yet charismatic lyricism that is often labeled as “catchyâ€. His debut album “Calm Cool Confident†released June 29th, 2010 has been globally successful, being recognized as his most profound, exhilarating project yet. D Sloan brings you that captivating style you look for in an artist, giving you an enormous amount of different sounds and topics to explore. He compliments the label in a positive way bringing you a different brand of hip hop that will take you through the good, the bad, and the ugly.
