d robbins band
D Robbins - BMI songwriter. I've placed a few songs with some good publishers, but I'm very grateful for that "real job!" Play all the instruments on my "low-tech" songwriter demos. Just have a lot of fun with music & writing brings a better side of me to the surface. I grew very tired of playing in bands many years ago. Like feedback, pro/con re: songwriting, & long ago realized it is where I am happiest in music.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
history? played in many S.F. Bay Area bands "Sweet Madness" was good - opened for Clover (H. Lewis, S. Miller,Sons Of Champlin, etc.) that was a long time ago, we surfed, partied a tad too much, argued - a few of us still write & do studio work -
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
Sometimes, mostly beer joints, "sports pubs" beer joints with many big-screen tv's (acoustic/vocal) different instruments in "old guy groups."
Your musical influences
J. Cash, W. Jennings, The Dead, Beatles, S. Wonder, S. Earle, Dylan - too many to list - I always liked certain country artists (songwriters) as my late father was a Midland, Tx. transplant & my only guitar teacher - the country sound registered - "alt.-country/folk/rock/swing/jazz/etc." new genre
What equipment do you use?
Taylor acoustic, old Fender Tele - most modern keyboards sound nice -
Anything else?
glad to join!
