Dreaming.
"Dreampedal" means "pedal towards your dreams." This artist name is one that can be shared with many people, particularly those who have dreams and commit themselves to fulfilling it. Nikar Kim is a dreamer and his dream is to become a musician like the idols he looked up to in the past and even unto today. He composes, produces and sings. He was born on March 2nd 1993 in London, Ontario, Canada and is currently 15 years old. He has been writing for 8 years and has singing ever since he could speak when he was a child. Recording songs did not come until he was 11 but he was not really that good because he was so young. He was so upset that he lost all hope in his music and stopped recording but occasionally continued writing. In 2007, he returned with a couple of singles and continued on from there. He composed and recorded each of his songs and from then on, he began to believe in his dream for music again. This year, after writing for 8 years, he feels that his works have paid off and is starting to feel more confident in his music. Many people who read his lyrics are able to recognize the true meaning within his songs. His music is not based on just sound, but mainly on meaning and emotions. He is one of the few writers who consistently write with his heart and not with his mind. His music is not really based on just the sound, but mostly based on the meaning and emotion you feel and hear. He plans to make his style different from other artists, and possibly even create a new genre for the media to describe his music. He is determined to "pedal towards his dreams", and by the looks of it, he'll continue to move at his own pace till he has reached the finish line.
His dream.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Started in 2004.. I was an amateur (still am)
Produced my own amateur beats and composed my own songs.
I lost all of the songs I did in those days.
Stopped making songs 'cause of built up emotions, and depression.
Started back up in Summer 2007 with two tracks.
Began to believe in myself again and doing what i'm doing today.
There's always room for me to grow.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
I performed the short version of a song called "Love Is Where It's AT". I will begin to play live, if people ask me to. It'll be something new to experience, and hopefully it'll be a lot of fun.
Your musical influences
A lot of em' are Brian McKnight, Craig DavidJohn Legend, Ne-Yo, Robert & Willie from Day26, Avant, Latif, Usher, Stage4 and thats just to name a few. I sing mostly R&B, but i could make raps if I really wanted to.
What equipment do you use?
Samson C01U
FL Studio
Adobe Audition
Anything else?
I make songs only to express exactly how I feel .. so far, all of my songs are slow, loving, meaningful R&B songs, and the reason for that is because I have a pretty emotional lifestyle. Love's always coming my way, but it just hurts me in the end. I don't know if I'm ready for relationships and whatnot anymore because of just what I went through in the past few years.. I know to never give up on love.. but hey, can you blame me for feeling this way ? I won't give up on love, but I'll always have the thought that I will .
