Band/artist history
Born in the urban part of Dallas, Texas, Dragnet began freestlyin' in the halls of the Townview Magnet Center during his junior year. He first started out just spitting rhymes off of beatbox beats in the hall during morning cyphers between him and a number of artists like Heavyweight Ent.'s Jesse as well as his childhood friend Beezy. Having been told that his flow was impressive, he began production on his first mixtape in the summer of '03 after he graduated. He laid his first track entitled "Secret Vandettas" over the Fabolous "It's My Party" instrumental with fellow artist Young K when they discovered a $15 studio deal with CEP Productions. After that, he went on a hiatus as he entered the military. He performed numerous duties in Norfolk, Virginia while still having aspirations of continuing his music career. In the summer of '04, he dropped what is probably known as the underground's first video mixtape in which he freestyled some fourteen tracks entitled,"The Blueshirt Mixtape". Numerous jokes were made about the tape, but he did not let that deter him. After that, he tentativly began production on his first audio mixtape enitled, "The Dragnet Revisions". He coupled it with a sneak peak of his slow jam mixtape series, "Behind Closed Doors". With these two mixtapes, he flew home on leave and hit the streets of Dallas doing promotions at Red Bird Mall, The Parks at Arlington and Irving Mall. The responses were good enough to boost site visitation to peacebreaker.com as he took pictures of each person who recieved a mixtape and posted it on the site. During the summer of '05, he began production on his second mixtape entitled, "The Dragnet Revisional". Production on the mixtape closed in the fall of '05, but he failed to release the mixtape, mostly because of the sound quality it possessed. He didn't feel like he was absolutly ready to engage the public with it. In the fall of '05, with new equipment, he began production on his third mixtape entitled, "Hooks & Verses". He devoted a great amount of time on the project as he decided that this would be his first official release. Alot of time went into prepping each track instead of just rushing the whole thing as he had done with his previous efforts. Even more so, he collaborated with other artists outside of the normal circle that he was used to. After releasing Hooks & Verses, he went on to team up with DJ Woody Wood to work on the pending release "Wheatland Rd. Representa". In the midst of anticipating it's official drop date, Dragnet began working on several other projects. He finished â
Have you performed in front of an audience?
Yep. So far I've done 5 shows - 1 talent show in Norfolk, VA and 4 performances at Club Tomcats in Deep Ellum (Downtown Dallas, TX). I like it because I get a chance to work on my stage performance and win over the crowd, but Dallas is hard on upcoming acts. My special moment would have to be my last performance when I finally got someone in the crowd to show me some love.
