A punk/funk/metal hybrid often compared to liquid crack. So good, so pure.....and you never wanna give it up.Band/artist history
Since their inception in the Spring of 2001, Detroit trio DOWNTOWN BROWN has left a mushroom-shaped imprint on the forehead of the music scene. Combining elements of Metal, Funk, Jazz and Punk Rock with a nostalgic 80's-cheese-arena-rock live show, DTB has cast an idiotic spell over any and everyone who has stood in the path of their lazer-charged turbo fury. DTB released their first full-length album, "Moist and Ridiculous" on Detroit indie STATIC RECORDS in the summer of 2002 and quickly became one of the top-drawing acts in Detroit and through relentless touring have also become well established in other regional markets. Since the release of their album, they've sold over 2000 copies regionally and "Moist and Ridiculous" has remained in regular rotation and charting highly at many college and independent radio stations. They've shared the stage with many national acts including ANDREW WK, MC CHRIS, MUSTARD PLUG, AUTHORITY ZERO, PEPPER, THE PRESIDENTS OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, TUB RING, THE INDEPENDENTS, DIE TRYING, THE AQUABATS, ULTIMATE FAKEBOOK, SLIGHTLY STOOPID, LUCKY BOYS CONFUSION, STEEL TRAIN, THE GADJITS, HOT ACTION COP, NERF HERDER, 2 SKINNEE Js, DOG FASHION DISCO, PLANET SMASHERS, LEDERHOSEN LUCIL and the late WESLEY WILLIS. In 2004, DOWNTOWN BROWN'S song "Body Rock" peaked at .. 2 on the ALT PUNK charts at www.soundclick.com, obtaining more total plays and downloads than many national indie acts such as DYNAMITE BOY, THE KINISON, THE AQUABATS, TUB RING and the PLAIN WHITE Ts. Their website has been accessed over 165,000 times in the last two years and "Moist and Ridiculous" has received rave reviews from such international publications as PIT MAGAZINE and METAL MANIACS MAGAZINE.
In latter part of 2004, DOWNTOWN BROWN independently released their self-titled follow-up to "Moist" on their own label: CHOCOLATE STAIN RECORDS. A testament to the band's growth both creatively and technically, DOWNTOWN BROWN's self-titled album picks up light years ahead of where "Moist" left off.
2005 has so far been a great year for DTB. A few short months after the release of their self-titled album, the band has graced the cover of REAL DETROIT WEEKLY(one of Detroit’s LARGEST weekly periodicals, 250,000 copies distributed weekly), been personally invited by WARPED TOUR PRESIDENT KEVIN LYMAN to play his stage on this year’s tour and has received stellar reviews from local and international press. The band plans to continue touring the region in support of their newest release, spreading the gospel that is DTB to the masses.Have you performed in front of an audience?Yes'm
