A Scottish musician based in France, Douglas Hinton plays lo-fi acoustic folk-rock music, which he writes, records and mixes at home on a 4-track machine. He occasionally plays live in the pubs and bars of the city of Brest (in the Brittany region of north-west France).
Band/artist history
Started playing the guitar and writing songs at the age of 14. Played in various bands at school and university. Went solo when I ran out of friends!
Have you performed in front of an audience?
Yes, I do. Playing live is a privilege, and it's also a lot of fun.
Your musical influences
Paul Westerberg Tom Waits Elliott Smith Bob Dylan "Nebraska"-era Springsteen Johnny Cash Various British rock bands - past and present
What equipment do you use?
Washburn Electro-Acoustic Guitar & any old microphone.
Anything else?
I've recently been listening to a British songwriter by the name of Frank Turner. His music is great, and I'd recommend it to anyone out there who's in the market for some quality songwriting.
