Whatz da deal? Im Jay Money & I have a record label called Double Platinum Records, da hottest label in Detroit MI.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Double Platinum Records was founded in late 1999 by Jantoin (Jay Money) Thompson. My cousin Michael (Cheddafeani) Tate & I had an idea to make a record label & movie in 1998 but I didn't really take things serious at the time & niether did he. In 1999 a guy sold me a Yamaha RY-30 beat machine, and I bought a lil 4 track recorder & a cheap keyboard from my boy Da Wizza from Six Fo. Soon after that I bought a better track machine & keyboard when i got my taxes. In 2002 I got a MPC, Digital Recorder, and in 2003 I got a Triton & Pro Tools & other equipment. 2003 I signed Platinum recoring artists Rilla & Candyman to the label bringing "Keep da game a secret" & "The Negotiator". 2003 Once signing Rilla & recording 2 songs for him, A friend of Eminem's contacted us wanting more songs to present to him. The guys on the block is YNB. Yung Mac, Wick, & Mega all got solo joints 2 soon to drop Look for Wick & mega & to check out Yung mac just type in his name on sound click & enjoy.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
YES!!! We've played all around the contry. Places like GA, MI, OH, NC, AZ, TX and others.
Localy places like Co Co's house of Comedy, C Note, Club XS, St. Andrews, Magic Stick, House partys & public events.
Your musical influences
Eminem, Rock Bottom Ent., Cheddar Boyz, Street Lords, Gangsta Boogie, Rilla, Out Cold, & any rappers from Detroit trying to make it big.
What equipment do you use?
MPC 2000, Triton keyboard, Rolland A-37, Rolland 505 Groove box, Behringer Truth B2031 Studio monitors, Pro Tools 6.4 Im out cold on it too. 32 channel digital mixer, Midisport 8x8 interface, and more.
