there are few young singers from the new school of todays r&b and its ever-changing categorization due to lyrical content and delivery possess the soul fullness of donah hunter. a songwritewr from an early age of 9 . influenced by jazz, hip-hop, gospel and reggae. donah has nurtured a concept of music that challenges the face of rhythm and blues and soul music .her vocal expression is based on her exposure to a varied diverse collection of music dating back to ella fitzgerald, aretha franklin , marvin gaye ,stevie wonder . poetry has always been her love of storytelling songwriting and musical expression although she grew up in a tragically broken home; the foundation was strengthened by her unfounded wisdom and determination. although she has been raised in new york her lineage ranges from the island of barbados to the country side of the south carolinas to the seas of south america. performances at venues such as the soul café, rios, krystalls , a radio marathon for the 100 black men of america at b smiths ,nells, the pyramid, downtime ,cabaret, evangelines jazz supper club ,s.i.r. studios,le bar bat and a host of talent shows, live band assisted performances through out the metropolitan area and collaborations with numerous up and coming hip hop and r&b artists. she has had a collaboration played on future flavors on hot 97.1, promo radio 91.9 ,and a.m. radio stations, local public television shows .nominated for best r&b female artist 2004 for the underground awards .my plight as an individual then artist is to show that you must have determination and faith in yourself and you can acheive your dreams .
