I suppose my music falls under the general Category of Breakcore/Mashcore/Digital Hardcore. I occasionally experiment with ambience and Trip Hop although i'm usually churning out broken tracks containing Gabber kicks, Amen Breaks, TV Theme tunes, Trance melodies, Heavy metal riffs and grinding drill and bass patterns.
Band/artist history
I can't really remember when I first started experimenting. I first learnt using music and music 2000 for the Playstation 1. However I soon decided I wanted professional software and so acquired a copy of FL so that I could broaden my horizons. Since the late 1990's I have been making noise using such software.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
Yes I play live around the UK whenever someone books me. I tend to only use my laptop although i'd like to integrate my guitars in the near future. Special moments include the time I died.
Your musical influences
Rocket from the Crypt; they first inspired me to pick up a guitar. In more recent times I have been influenced by artists such as Slayer, Scotch Egg, Paul Elstak, Scott Brown, Neophyte, Rotterdam Terror Corps, Public enemy, Atari teenage riot/Alec Empire, Venetian Snares, Antipop Consortium, Aphex Twin, Squarepusher, Tommyknocker, Meagashira, DJ Shitmat, Floorclearer and Ebola. For a more extensive list, visit my myspace if you really care.
What equipment do you use?
DJ The Blade works entirely on a software basis, not particularly spectacular but nevertheless it does me fine. Primarily I use FL studio pro edition, Audacity and Nero wave editor.
Anything else?
I may as well use this box to plug my music a bit more. You can find more up to date tuneage on my myspaz which can be found here: www.myspace.com/djtheblade There are some free albums to download on this myspace, with another one coming soon.
