Shawn J. Teixeira started his music career back in 1985 on the Island of Guam where he is from. He first heard the 12" single "All Night", by Trinere of Jam Packed records (from his now, life long friend, Ken San Agustin). The beat, music, powerful vocals and awesome samples hooked him into becoming a DJ. Which opened a whole new world into the underground dance/club music scene.
After spinning records for over ten years and with the encouragement of his friends, Shawn decided to try his hand at writting/programming his own songs.Band/artist history
Been a DJ since 1985. Started writing music around the same time. For years I've dabbled with other musicians, but never really clicked and had artistic differances. So I've been left to my own devices.
I recently joined up with Mr. Jim Foster (2007) and we're excited with the chemistry we have and our musical taste and direction. Hopefuly with in a year, we can finish our debut Album.Have you performed in front of an audience? We are currently working on several up coming gigs. Since Jim and I just met October 07 and live an hour and half apart. We're not quite ready with the standars we have set for ourselves. We want are show to be top notch! But the dates have been set and the preasure is on for us to work harder ;-).
Your musical influences
My first musical influence was the whole crew of Jam Packed records. Trinere, Debbie Deb, Pretty Tony, Freestyle, 911 & Fastlane.
Then came Stevie B, Sweet Sensation, Cover Girls, Expose, Sa-Fire. My musical interest started curving from Freestly/latin hip hop towards Euro pop. Book Of Love, Depeche Mode, Pet Shop Boys and the Group that has been at the top of my list for the past 15 years and is still a huge influence and encouragement is "ERASURE"!
The programming of Vince Clark combined with the vocals of Andy Bell, along with their flawless arrangements and how their lyrics compliment the music.
When I grow up, I want to be just like them! ;-)What equipment do you use?
Ensoniq ZR-76 studio synthesizer.
Korg - Triton studio synthesizer.
Zoom 1044 digital recorder.Anything else?
Shawn Teixeira is also a Published Author. His book titled "Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep" is an Auto Biography of his child hood. The abuse he and his siblings have suffered, and how the system set up to protect abused children failed.
His book is extremely detailed and graphic as to the events that took place.
Shawn urges every one to not turn their cheek when they know of, or see a child being abused and to call the proper authorities to help such children.
Though the topic of his book is hard to stomach, his book is an inspirational story of over coming the emotional struggles of being extremely tortured.
