I'm a beatsmith. I also score independent films and DJ.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
I've been DJing and making beats since 1999. I've gone through a lot of phases in terms of my approach to selecting source sounds, at times using only samples, other times only synths, other times only live musicians. I love sampling but I'm going through a phase lately where I'm trying to make beats without using copyright protected samples, to circumnavigate that hasslish legal obstacle.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
I DJ a lot of partys and sometimes do the scratch DJ thing solo or with a band.

Bach, Beastie Boys, Massive Attack, Portishead, Marley Marl, DJ Premier, Q-bert, K-OS, Evil D, Curtis Mayfield, Bill Withers, StevieWonder, Ray Charles, Quincy Jones, Fatboy Slim, Sun Ra, everything from Motown and Staxx/Volt, and way too many more greats to mention.
What equipment do you use?
As much as I can get my hands on.

My ears and heart. Don't forget to bring earplugs when you go to concerts, kids!
