It's creative and unique. It has a great continuity to it. A great realized CD. - Eric Neher, Elements Magazine/NYC “A fabulous amalgamation of alt-rock, hip hop, beatnik funk-lounge, social-political diatribes, and right-on off-kilter viewpoints.” - CD Scene & Heard " it is for those who want to understand and accept the "Monkey's" wit and underlying plethora of hard-hitting truths, which come up and attack you in the face when you least expect it." - J. Reano, LA..XPress “DJ Monkey explores the connection and the common ground between jazz-backed beat poetry and hip-hop.” - NOHOLA “Innovative and definitely something to talk about combines stylish social lyrics, beatnik funk, jazz, a twist of R&B, and a slap of rap all rolled into one. “ - Keith "KC" Clifton, www.newartistshowcase.com

Your musical influences
As cutting-edge as the spoken word heard in the contemporary jazz and poetry slam world, yet as accessible as hip-hop and modern R&B/Pop, DJ MONKEY’S CD "ANOTHER EVOLUTION" offers cuts like the satirical "Beatnik," the emotional "Too Cool" and the angry "Big Oil". Hooky, catchy, yet meaningful and challenging, DJ MONKEY (though often compared to Soul Coughing), could be the first act of its type to break through into the world of mass acceptance, bridging the gap between spoken word, theater, dance and pop music; boomers, Gen-Xers and today’s digitally altered 21st Century children. They scratch, they dance, they scat, they bump; they wax philosophical, subversive, surreal and comical all on the same canvas. They call their music "Ambient Word."
What equipment do you use?
Ww produced our amazing sounding CD on Cakewalk Pro Audio 9. We used an MPC 2000 on 'bEATNIK" As for MR1's equipment etc. I will have to get back to you guys.
