DJ Geist13 was born in Southern New Jersey as David Leek, and has lived there ever since. It was during his middle school career when he was first introduced to electronic music. Some of his first influences include Tiesto, Benny Benassi, and The Prodigy. Starting in the summer of 2008 Dave was introduced to the Melbourne Shuffle by his best friend since pre-school. That day marked a turn of fate for Dave, his boring life style of regular pop music would change forever. DJ Geist13 DJ?d his first gig that summer with a laptop and VDJ Ver. 4 (at age 17). It was low-tech but successful! After that, new equiptment was purchased and the DJ career was off to the races. Since then DJ Geist13 (locally known as DJ Dave) has preformed at multiple parties and numerous events around the east coast. Currently, DJ Geist13 has produced over 20 original tracks and countless remixes. He aspires to become a internationally recognized DJ. It has been his dream for many years and that dream will never die!
Band/artist history
DJ Geist13 is only two years old, but I hope to keep it alive my entire life.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
I DJ live for parties and club. I Love to DJ and I love to make music, it is my passion. I remember the first time I DJ'd a party. It was a sweet 16 and I was only 17 myself. I used nothing but a laptop and Virtual DJ V4.6. The party went great and only weeks later I recieved offers to DJ other parties. I love what I do and I do what I love.
Your musical influences
The only community of artists, if it wasn't for the internet then artists like Tiesto, Above and Beyond, Benny Benassi, Headhunterz, The Prodigy, The Prophet, and Basshunter would have never reached my ears.
What equipment do you use?
Currently a Laptop with Virtual DJ Pro 5.5, two 1 Terabyte harddrives full of the latest music, and Numark's iCDX as a remote controller for VDJ. I plan on getting a Microphone hooked up to a loopstation and two Korg Kaoss Pad 3's (similar to Beardyman), along with my keyboard so I can easily make music on the fly and improvise greatness.
Anything else?
Just living one day at a time and I live for the music.
