Hi.. Just a guy on his computer making some tunes. Not professional, nothing special, just my own unique dark style. Been making tracks on the computer since around the year 2000.. ish.. I would definately say I have improved. Been on and off making music, depending on my mood, and the Earth's gravitational pull....
Currently residing in Thailand, I originally come from Melbourne, Australia. In my former life, in the late 90's, I was very much into the rave and club scene, which meant I was also into the drug scene as well.. Mostly extasy, speed and acid, with the occasional sessions of ketamine and GHB was nice at around 5am to kick the MDMA feeling back in.. I could never afford coke, which probably was a good thing knowing what i am like.. I drank alcohol before I turned 18 but once I became the legal age to drink there wasn't much thrill in the whole thing. I never ever touched heroin, due to me hating needles, hating junkies, many people I know dying from overdoses and mainly coz my younger sister had a tough battle with it at the age of 15.. Anyway, all in the past now.
The 3 years I've been here in Thailand I haven't done anything drug related, and as sad as I am to admit it, I miss them. It was never a dependance, I just loved to have fun either walking around an outdoor rave on acid, on ketamine discovering the reason why we are all here, or on a pill in a club hugging someone I don't really know.
Making music is my drug. When I'm on a roll and I'm really gettin into a track, I can feel the same feelings as when the MDMA kicks in.. Well, its not really the same, but all I've got here =) Same if I'm at a club. I don't need to drink or take anything if the music is awesome. I can get to a level of euphoria from dancing to good solid deep progressive house. It's a shame that everything closes at 2am in Thailand, but without a good supply of speed my feet get sore and it's hard to stay awake any longer anyway!
Someone, only known as the 'Genre Nazi' says that my tracks are known as electro-gressive. The child of electo sounds and progressive beats.
SunnySideUp - "Keepin' it Real"
Fathom - "It's not where you're From, It's where you're At"
Earthcore - "Flee the city" (Nov 2000)
"Never trust a computer you can't throw out the window"
My goal is to make enough music to DJ my own dance party in Bangkok or somewhere else in Thailand.. 3 hours of music should be sufficient.
I love cats.
Pleased to meet you.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
I've lost all my work.... Three times. There was "The Great Format of 2001" where I backed all mystuff to D drive, and then somehow connected the drives incorrectly, so D became C, and C became D. So I hit:
"format C:"
All data on this drive will be lost. Are you sure? Y/N
"y"
formatting..... ..... ..... ..... ....
I was a little upset to realise I formatted the drive all my stuff was backed up on, including my tracks.
Then, I moved to Thailand, and backed all my stuff up on a hard drive, sold my computer, and was planning to buy a new one here. But I made the terrible mistake of putting the hard drive in my luggage. So it got booted around by 'chuckers' (luggage handlers) and when I got to Thailand, it ceased to work.
So I started from scratch.. Again. I was building a collection again. Then, I had a problem with my modem. I took it to the shop to get repaired. And the goose formatted C drive to install windows again.. He didn't even call to ask if I needed anything on the drive. The F*cker just did it. And, as painful as it was, I lost all my tracks.. I didnt think anyone would be so stupid to wipe all my shit off the drive that I would need to make a backup...
So now I back up to CD every month... =) Finally learned.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
I am living in Bangkok, Thailand now. I play at some small local venues but my goal is to make enough of my own tunes to at least last a 3 hour set, and go play at a big club somewhere here in Bangkok, coz the progressive dance scene seriously is non existant here..
Your musical influences
DJ's and Artists such as Sasha, John Digweed, Paul Oakenfold, Nubreed, James Holden, BT, The Global Underground Series, Cass & Slide, Phil K, Aaron Smiles, Funk Dvoid, Dave Seaman... Listening to Aphex Twin in the car while on Acid was pretty cool too......
What equipment do you use?
Computer, mouse... speakers? =p.... shitty desktop speakers, so I hope my tunes dont sound too awful on someone who has good equipment. I used to use fruity loops 2 and maybe 3, but then it went all complicated now so I just stick with Reason
Anything else?
I hate it when a DJ talks in a set.
I hate it when a DJ doesn't mix consistantly
I hate dogs that bark early in the morning.
