District Five
Basically just stuff me and my pal here record on our spare time. Some just weird covers/noises and others just crappy stuff, usually backed with low quality drum machine stuff. Currently a one-man band, but guest appearances are encouraged!
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Umm we were in another band, and when that broke up we just started fooling around with computer recording. that's about it. Currently a one-man endeavour now.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
We play live in our little rooms. That's about it!
Your musical influences
Anything that sounds cool.
What equipment do you use?
Cheap computer drum machine (known as hammerhead), I use the tr-505 sound pack most of the time, but now I'm starting to use my own!custom sounds.
Anything else?
Let's see... I am currently using my crap ibanez RG180 guitar (maybe being replaced by that sexy gibson lp double cutaway) through an Ibanez 25R Toneblaster (pretty good for bedroom recording, but I really need something else besides a single speaker amp) through my computer (good stuff), and I multi-track using some freeware program called AUDACITY which is pretty alright. For bass stuff, I use my dad's '51 p-bass reissue through my amp and into my comp, but if Marc is over he uses his Cort bass. I really need keyboards, but I might split the cost with my sister and buy a cheap casio.
[update] I've been using a Gibson SG for a while now going into a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe 1x12 60 watt amp. I use a cheap mic to record my amp, and still use the '51 P-bass into line-in for the low end. Hammerhead has been in use for a long time now for drums, but I have experimented with physical forms of percussion. I have been using an Ibanez DL-10 for delay for a while, a long with my first pedal the BOSS OS-2, and the more recent Danelectro FABTONE and Ibanez FC-10 fat cat! I also have recently acquired the Digitech PDS 20/20!
