Dislocated Thumbs
DIsLoCAted tHuMBs
Well here we are and there we were!
Sorry we haven't got a proper website but some fucker forgot to pay the bill and they closed us down...the bastards! You should get all the info you need off this site though...and it costs us nothing.
We've put a few tracks on here under the Music Section. They're shitty demos recorded in a practice studio, but they should give you an idea of what we're about. They only cost the hire of the room, 45 for the day, and a couple of pints for Jon for bringing his kit and recording us.
If you would like us to play a gig just email us at dislocatedthumbs@hotmail.co.uk and ask us. Check out the live section for upcoming gigs in the meantime.
If you're a promoter checking us out, or are otherwise that way inclined, DIsLoCAted tHuMBs have played the following venues, mostly round London:-
The Rhythm Factory - Whitechapel
93 Feet East, Shoreditch
Punk Aid 04, Great Yarmouth
The Bull and Gate, Kentish Town
Hope & Anchor, Islington
The Half Moon, Putney
The Dublin Castle, Camden
The Infinity Club, Piccadilly Circus
Upstairs at the Garage, Islington
The Brixton Telegraph, Brixton
On The Rocks, Shoreditch
The Purple Turtle, Camden
The OH! Bar - Camden
The Archway, Archway
Embargo, Chelsea
Gossips, Soho
The Comedy, Piccadilly Circus
The Fighting Cocks, Kingston
WestOneFour, West Kensington
12 Bar Club, WC2
POP Bar, Soho

and many more we can't remember...or don't want to!!
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Rob from Bournemouth moves to London meets Steve from London, flat mates, write songs, called themselves Phug and did first gig at a garden party in 2002 with Swedish dude Jens on bass. Jens heads back to Sweden, get Clayton (South African dude) on drums and Rich on bass. Call themselves The Phugs. Rich leaves after 1 gig (couldn't play bass), get Jon in on bass early 2003. Start doing loads of gigs round London and did a festival called Punk Aid where we played alongside bands such as The Damned, UK Subs and Marky Ramone. Jon leaves at the end of 2004, so get Adam in on bass. Changed the name to Dislocated Thumbs.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
Yes, as often as we can, love it.
Your musical influences
Steve: The first album I bought was a 2nd hand Never Mind The Bollocks by (as if you didn't know) the Sex Pistols & I learned to play Pretty Vacant on a f*cked nylon-string guitar plugged into my grandads hi-fi using his hearing-aid sellotaped to the guitar as the guitar pickup. Great bloke my grandad and he made strong beer too. Anyway...
What equipment do you use?
guitars, bass and drums init.
Anything else?
We use to be called the "The Phugs" but changed our name cos we got pissed off people thinking we were a tribute band to the 60s band "The Fugs."
Also, if you Google "The Phugs" it comes up with, "The Phugs... They have short weapons; not too bright either...."
...another reason for the name change!
