DirtyBirds

In pictuuresque Olympia, Washington - a capitol city known for its sleepy, Twin Peaks-like atmosphere -reside one of the West Coasts best kept Secrets -- the Dirty Birds The band is regarded by their peers as being one of the best live acts in the Northwest. Their professionalism and personable nature has earned the respect of countless bands, booking agents, bartenders and club owners who have learned that the 'Birds hybrid sound can be matched on a bill with just about anyone - from surf acts to swing bands.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
The DirtyBirds have opened sold out shows for legendary performers Link Wray, The Wailers, Southern Culture on the Skids, Frank Black, R.L. Burnside, Wayne Kramer, Bad Brains, Dead Moon, Zeke, and Gas Huffer, Agent Orange, D.I., The Briefs and Modest Mouse. At each and every show, no matter how big or small, the DirtyBirds give a 150% - sweat soaked - ground pounding - all out live performance that gets even the stodgiest of bored looking scenesters swinging their hips! Now re-fitted with a new bassist, and straining at their Olympia tethers like a race built 440 on a bad motor mount, the 'Birds are taking their high-octane, low-drag act out on the road - in their flamed '65 Cadillac Hearse"The Big Sleep".
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
yes the band plays live about 4-6 a month. Mostly in Washington/Oregon. and touring the west coast about twice a year.
Your musical influences
The DirtyBirds are a critics delight - and worst nightmare. The quartet's mind-blowing mix of snarling, early 80's punk and Deep Purple-thick, 70's guitar rock - colored with a ballsy Kingsmen meet The Seeds 60's approach - keeps scribes tossing and turning after bedtime. Yet, The DirtyBirds' deserved reputation as hot rodding, hard hitting Hell raisers - and their larger than life adventures - have garnered features in such NW magazines as The Rocket, Backfire, Seattle Weekly, and the Stranger.
