DirtHead is the dirty collabo between the Dutch producers Koolz & PuRay. Hooking up two years ago at Killah B’s birthday party after discovering each other passion for nasty soulful Drum&Bass. Nowadays creating phat, dark and soulful beats and breakz, with a focus on Drum&Bass.

DirtHead is the dirty collabo between the Dutch producers Koolz & PuRay. Hooking up two years ago at Killah B’s birthday party after discovering each other passion for nasty soulful Drum&Bass. Nowadays creating phat, dark and soulful beats and breakz, with a focus on Drum&Bass. Ray Pluim aka PuRay: Just as J-Dilla - one of his inspiration sources - PuRay first step in making beats was using the pause and record buttons on his tape deck, creating a Bob James-loop of RunDmc’s track Peter Piper. Many years later he bumped into producer SnyBone and the Roland MC-505 Groovebox. There was no turning back. Creating beats on a daily basis for more then 10 years now, mainly hiphop and drum&bass. Nowadays working with more gear and composing in Cubase and Ableton. Working closely with producers Koolz and SnyBone and mc Mohs and Killah B Jochem Kools aka Koolz: In the 90’s Koolz started producing tracks working with MOD editing. With a solid background in playing guitar and keys he explored different musical directions. In the mid 90’s Koolz met his resent love: hardcore soulfoul D&B. Inspired by producers like Technical Itch and Bad Company he started creating into the harder underground stuff working with an illegal version of Cubase. When this version crashed, Koolz motivation crashed as well. A few years later the introduction with producer PuRay gave him a spicy kickstart. Nowaydays up and running full speed and combining forces on a daily basis, creating a mixture of muddy bass and intelligent breakz.

DirtHead [Sordes Scandalum Praeses] - A producer of usually lower class who is of the utmost atrocity. Generally characterized by muddy bass and various types of mysterious pads. Usually lives in the swamp part of every bassment. Most of the time a habitual crank (it up) addict. Listens to everything below sea level, possibly Ed Rush, Optical, Marcus Intalex, Blame, Rufige Kru,Technical itch, LTJ Bukem, Photek, Dillinja, Source Direct, Big Bud, Bad Company, Decoder, Panacea, and many more special spirits.
