Dezzie
Born and raised in the great city of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania into a family of musicians and entertainers, Desiree Neal, better known as Dezzie has been singing since the age of 7.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Remembering stories shared by her beloved grandmother of how they survived daily by proving God at his word and encouraging themselves through the music that rested in their hearts helped Dezzie come full circle on her latest project to speak to those most broken.
Dezzies life experiences was one that was perfectly depicted in her debut single, Lost My Way, (written by labelmate TWyse) off her soon to be released sophomore album that is titled, DYING DAILY: A Journey through Spiritual Growth produced by Eric Booty Greene, Jr. and Irvin Washington of EndTyme Productions.
Her personal struggles have molded her into the self-sufficient woman of God she is today. Her hunger for more spiritual growth is evident as she sings and shares the love of Christ with others. Dezzie's project is also a spiritual journey for those people in a backslidden state that are searching for a divine way out of their current situation.
With musical influences that range from Nancy Wilson, Earth, Wind & Fire, Mighty Clouds of Joy, and Jill Scott to Tonex, Deitrick Haddon, Tye Tribbett and others, Dezzies musical style is equally as diverse with an urban flare. It is best described as soulful yet poetic, funky yet classy.
Her first album, Here I Am(released back in 2002) was a compilation of soulful songs that represented a cry out to the Lord from the lips of a prodigal child.
Her brilliant follow-up CD Dying Daily perfectly illustrates her spiritual growth and walk with God. This project is personal as it relates to various trials endured along her journey. Dezzie says she wants backslidden souls to know that there is still hope and the lost to know that life is more fulfilling in Christ.
With songs like Lord of your Life, Enough, I Cant Take No More, and Lost my Way, this CD is sure to take you on a spiritual journey of a lifetime.
