We're Desperately Seeking Attention. We're based in Cardiff, Wales, UK and we play Epitaph/Fat Wreck influenced punk rock. We consist of 4 members - Richard Toner on ocals and rhythm guitar, Ben Brown on lead guitar, Sam Adcock on bass guitar and backing vocals and Luke Dwyer on drums.Band/artist history
In mid 2002 4 guys decided to have a jam. Out of those 4 guys, only Ben and Dwyer remain. At the time Dwyer was playing bass and Ben was still rubbish. Over time, a few (admittedly lame) songs were written and chucked together before Dwyer finally got a drumkit and a new bassist, Sam, was brought in. In October 2003, after being auditioned and impressing Dwyer and Ben with a cover of Invincible by No Use For A Name, Toner was added to the lineup as a vocalist/rhythm guitarist. Good move, seeing as how Toner's written practically every song.. Anyway, we played our first gig in January 2004 in Barfly, Cardiff, as part of a local show called TeenSpirit. Earning 3 stars out of 5, DSA collaborated and wrote better songs for another TeenSpirit in April 2004. Since then a number of gigs have been played (not many), not really earning a following but writing some pretty damn good songs. Even if we say so ourselves.Have you performed in front of an audience?We play around the South Wales area. So far we've played in Clwb Ifor Bach, Barfly and TJ's. Our favourite moment was probably playing a battle of the bands in Whitchurch High School in order to raise money for the 6th form.
Your musical influences
The bands we listen to for inspiration are probably Strung Out, NOFX, Thrice, No Use For A Name, From Autumn To Ashes, Good Riddance, Millencolin and Pennywise. Some local bands that deserve a shoutout: Warpath, Wilcox, Alongcameman, Dopamine, Be Like Dad and The Red October. Keep an eye out for them.What equipment do you use?
Ben uses a Fender USA HSS Stratocaster, Marshall 100W MG100DFX amplifier, Boss PH1 Phase Shifter, DS1 Distortion Pedal and Dunlop stubby picks.
Sam uses a 6 string Cort bass guitar and a Kustom 100W bass amp.
Toner uses a Squier SSS strat, Fender 30W amp and sings through a Kustom 80W PA system
Dwyer uses a 5 piece Pearl Export with a 14", 16" Sabian Pro Sonix crashes, 18" Zildjian Avedis Crash, 20" Sabiab Pro Sonix ride and 14" Sabian Pro Sonix hi-hats, with Gibraltar double pedals and Mapex/Yamha/Pearl hardware.Anything else?
