Desafio is a dynamic duo composed of two young talented artists trying to make their mark on the music industry. Kid Flaco born in Nicaragua and Slim Stunna born in Washington D.C. together form an unpredictable combination that is the future of rap and reggaeton. Flaco coming to this country when he was only two years old and Stunna being born to a mother from El Salvador and a father from Guatemala they both had to be prepared to face adversity and work towards a better life for themselves and their families.
Flaco and Stunna are childhood friends that met each other in middle school. Stunna has been rapping since he was 12 years old. Always rapping and battling in school he was very much influenced by the hip hop and rap culture. Flaco on the other hand was mostly influenced by Latin music. When Flaco heard about the genre of music called reggaeton it completely captured his attention and he could not get enough of it. Both of them always had an interest in music but never really considered being a recording artist as a career because they had other things on their mind such as sports and school. It was not until they reached their last years in high school that they decided to devote their time and energy into making a music career possible by starting to showcase their talent to the public.
Kid Flaco’s musical influences include Baby Rasta y Gringo and Plan B. Slim Stunna’s musical influences include Eminem and Notorious B.I.G. Desafio’s different influences make them such a versatile duo and together they create a fusion of music that is unlike anything you have heard before. Their unique style is noticeable in each and every one of their songs. Two very different styles combining to form a sound that is truly unlike anything in the music industry right now.
Desafio has been the opening act for major recording artists such as Pitbull, Cheka, Los Guanabanas, the Mas Flow Family, and Ivy queen. Desafio feels that the way they perform is just as important as the songs that they make because they want to be known as all around entertaining artists that work hard in every aspect. They have performed in many venues and clubs throughout their career and hope to continue and expand in the years to come.
At the moment Desafio is focused on collaborating with other young artists and getting as much exposure as possible. Flaco and Stunna both write their own lyrics and produce each of their songs and they hope to continue improving on their writing and producing skills. Flaco and Stunna feel that they are against all odds when it comes to making a name for themselves in this industry but they are here to prove that with hard work and determination nothing is impossible.
Desafio’s ultimate goal is to get their music out to the world and become respected international recording artists. With the determination and perseverance of this duo it is only a matter of time.
