I bought myself a 12 string guitar one day and decided to teach myself to play. After a couple years I got bored of doing cover tunes (don't get me wrong, I love karaoke just as much as the next guy). So I decided to write a song and I've doing it ever since. I've written about 30 songs, with another 70 songs half or almost finished. I've always been able to express myself literally so writing songs came very naturally to me. I use music as a form of therapy for everything that happens in my life, whether I'm falling in love, getting my heart broken or feeling so much joy that I can't contain it. I direct movies too, and I have this "true love" story that I want to do. I can't afford artists like David Gray, Jon Mayer, Coldplay and others. So I gotta write my own soundtrack. That's going along great. Soon I'll have enough for my movie.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
I played guitar and sang my originals at "The Forks" of my fair city of Winnipeg this past summer. I also played my originals at the Fairmont Hotel (classiest joint in town), so now I'm spoiled.
Your musical influences
I love David Gray, Jon Mayer, Alexi Murdoch, Jack Johnson, Ben Harper, Jann Arden, Katie Marie (she's on Soundclick), Coldplay, Sarah Mclachlan, Bonnie Raitt, Chantal Kreviazuk (local girl), Jackson Browne, Bon Jovi, Aerosmith, Def Leppard, Rod Stewart, Tragically Hip and my favorite of all time, Blue Rodeo. These people inspire me to write great music.
