Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Derek Clegg began playing music while growing up in Michigan. After teaching himself the guitar over several years, he found a knack for singing and songwriting. By the time he was in college he had developed his own sound and a small catalog of songs to show for it. Soon after, he began playing for his friends, at parties, bars and coffee houses around his college campus and getting positive responses from listeners encouraging him to continue his pursuit of music after college.
Riding on the positive feedback, Derek traveled to Atlanta to take advantage of the nationally recognized music scene. While continuing to write and at the same time find the right musicians to help fill the sound he was trying to create, Derek began playing open mics and researching the Atlanta music scene. In 2003, Derek found his band mates and finally was able to hear the songs as he had written them in his head years before.
