What if Tom Petty and The Wallflowers joined up with John Mellencamp? It might sound a lot like Dean Taylor! Guitar based Roots Rock with a Folk sensibility sung with an expressive, raspy yet pleasing voice. Check it out, you'll like it!
Band/artist history
After ten years of playing bass professionally in a variety of bands, duos and trios throughout the Southeast, from small clubs to opening for national artists in concert, Dean went on to pursue other areas of the entertainment industry. The call of music kept nagging until he concentrated on his original songwriting and recorded a full length CD entitled "So Far" available for sale at www.cdbaby.com/cd/deantaylor. This impressive all original debut release brings Dean Taylor back to his musical roots. Combining 70's and 80's influenced Pop and Roots Rock with an acoustic approach to his Folk/Americana songwriting has resulted in a truly unique combination of styles that seem familiar yet unlike what you've heard before. "I just write what I hear inside" he says. "From an artistic standpoint, sometimes the structure of the song is less important than the idea or emotion you're trying to convey." This approach has been a double edged sword in his pursuit of commercial acceptance. "I've had some Nashville producers and publishers really like my songs personally but then they tell me they don't know exactly what to do with it. I figure it's just a matter of time till I find the right outlet." Let's hope he does so more people will be able to enjoy this music veteran's debut effort. Dean credits Atlanta producer David Leonard at Reveal Audio to help define his sound. David also co-produced and helped play all the instruments on this eclectic collection of songs. "I would go into the studio with an acoustic song and by the end of the session it would end up as a rocker! Sometimes songs just take on a life of their own. Maybe that's why I've had a hard time labeling what kind of record this is for all the music websites." Call it Americana or Roots Rock or Folk Rock, but whatever it is, call it GOOD! It's guitar-based Roots/Folk Rock in the style of the Wallflowers, Springteen, Petty and Steve Earl, sung with an earthy voice that conveys the emotion contained in his honest, sometimes dark but always intriguing lyrics. You'll find yourself humming these mind-sticking melodies before you know it, all the while discovering deeper meanings in the lyrics with repeated listenings.

Hi Dean, Fantastic to hear from you again!! and a nice surprise. I must tell you that I really enjoy your song 'Crazy Love' you have certainly captured that Tom Petty feeling and blended it with your own unique style (very cool!!!). Just to let you know that I am still unsigned and recording as a solo musician. The band biog here on SC is nothing more than a fictitious joke and an imaginary band that I put together. By the way, I am mostly on 'myspace' these days and I was wondering if you have a page there? if so, look me up at www.myspace.com/tammacsgiants . Look forward to chatting again soon Take care. Buddy ..Tam...
