I have been playing drums since I was five years old.During my teens and young adulthood I played drums,keyboards and percussion for various Chicago hard rock and industrial bands,(Fist of Cain,Colla Destra),playing in such venues as the Metro,Exit,Crobar and others. After some time, I traded in my drum kit for some drum machines and dove deep into the electronica scene which was flourishing in Chicago at the time. Always being an avid fan of hip hop, I began to experiment with slowing down the tempos of some of my jungle tracks and cutting out all the excessive polyrythms and focus on making banging beats. Soon I had a name as a hot producer,found a crew of hungry rappers(special shout out to ETARENEGED!!) and began to work.The chemistry was there, but inner turmoils and my own "forrays into the darker aspects of life"prevented us from achieving our true potential,so I moved to Sweden and began to work on my solo project....And now after much struggle,I HAVE ARRIVED!!!!!!
The new CD;"From Chi-Town to Stocktown",is an amalgamation of lyrical styles,showcasing the versatility of an mc/producer who has literally been raised on hip hop.Tearing up the swedish mixtape circuit now is "100 Shots pt2",look for it on basementality.com....Also rocking mixtapes is a brand new track entitled "Let's Settle it",a taepit exclusive already killin 'em and making these other part time rappers fear the dark... Other favorites are "I BE","M.D.S.P." (quickly becoming a cult/street classic!),and "Thug Pimpin'" a track which is completely BLAZIN',giving you a TRUE feel for why the name "D-Chi" is on the tips of everyones' tongues in Scandinavia lately...Have you performed in front of an audience?I have been fortunate enough to be able to acclimate to the Swedish hip hop scene relatively quickly.I have performed in numerous venues here in Stockholm where I'm based such as Stacy's,KTH,Combo,Mondo and Klara Sjo among others,as well as performing in Luleå,Upsalla,Malmö, Berlin Germany and other places.I have also done live freestyles on Swedish radio with well known Swedish rappers(big up ta' B-Line!Eye-n-I and Profilen!Up Hygh!)As far as the scene itself,I love it! Although it is a little small,the scene is beginning to grow.There is a very loyal hardcore underground scene here in Sweden, focusing solely on tight lyrics and hot ass flows!!! Soon after moving here, I was fortunate enough to hook up with the BEATSURGEONS, a trio of hip hop producers with unparralleled talent and creativity. After being diagnosed and subsequently admitted to "Tha' Emergency Room", I am now ready to spread the disease!!!HAHA Naw' really 'doe,I am happy to be considered as an ambassador for the new era of hardcore hiphop emerging in Scandinavia.Recent hardcore moments include hitting the stage w/ the world famous STYLE ELEMENTS and rocking the crowd with some tight ass rhymes!!!Sept. 1st,D-CHI won the Stockholm Freestyle battle championships!!! On Oct. 1st, I will be in Malmö,competing against the best in all of Sweden!!! Wish me luck people!!!! Most special moment was playing live in Östersund Sweden and then "AFTER THA SHOW IT'S THE AFTER PARTY AND THEN...AFTER THAT IT'S THE HOTEL LOBBY AND..."
