Daydream Cycle
Daydream Cycle is a unique fusion of samples, drum loops, raw ambient guitars, a bassline with a life of its own, and an ethereal voice that sends your soul into mystic abstraction. The songs have a diverse melodic reverie with intermittent distorted guitars that vary from steady to upbeat, and dreamy to lively , all glittered, sparkled and ribboned up.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
In the summer of 2000, Japs and beat programmer Bogs Jugo began recording their stuff on Bogs computer. Both of them disclose that it wasnt really serious at first and they just wanted to try out Bogs cool gadgets that he recently bought at the time. "Actually, we didnt plan to record the songs," Japs remembers adding that Bogs had all this brand new stuff, software, drum machine and gadgets, "Its a waste if we don't use them."
The samplers and grooveboxes became the framework of much of their music. Schoolmate and friend Kathy Meneses came to the picture. The trio have recorded enough songs for an album and they decided to release it independently. The self-titled debut full-length contains twelve all original songs, two of which are instrumentals. The album has been well-received by music buffs and critics alike. Laura Watling (from the legendary The Autocollants) liked the band. Taken from an email, she wrote, "...speaking of good shoegaze bands, anyone who loves that late 80's/early 90's shoegaze sound should check out the band DAYDREAM CYCLE from the Philippines.
