Band/artist history
David Nielsen is a master guitarist, composer and musician. He has been playing for many years in different bands and as a solo artist. Having had the great privilege of studying and playing with world famous guitarists such as Andres Segovia, Christopher Parkening, Julian Bream, Pepe Romero and Lee Ritenour, to name just a few, has had a great impact on his musicianship. He has earned both his Bachelors, as well as his Masters degree at the prestigious University of Southern California. David performs in the well-received Jazz Fusion band, Jasmine, which has had an extensive L.A. following; he also has a unique Jazz Duet with fellow Jasmine bandmate, Garry Goodman, called Nielsen-Goodman Project. He has also worked with Christine McVie, Gary Busey, Michael Ontkean, Sam and Anne Melville and John Cale as well as other popular performers. He also composes television and movie scores. His "who's who" client list includes both corporate giants like Nike and The Gap, alongside media industry groups such as ABC, and HBO, to name just a few. He continues to write and record radio and television scores and jingles. David composes music for all styles of guitar, as well as arranging jazz pieces for guitar and large ensembles. He is a published songwriter affiliated with BMI and AFTRA. He has also been involved with several other bands throughout the '80's and '90's. One in particular, Stroxx, made it to the semi-finals on the first season of TV's Star Search, narrowly losing to country stars, Sawyer Brown! David's personal influences come from Carlos Santana, John McLaughlin and Andres Segovia, as well as all types and styles of music itself. David has created an innovative technique to facilitate visualization of the guitar fret board that he calls Intervalic Symmetry and is currently working on publishing this method. David currently resides in Beverly Hills, California with his wife and son.
