Dave Corsello is a jazz guitarist and composer whose composition and playing styles are rooted in the tradition of contemporary jazz.
Born in Gowanda, NY and raised in Clark, NJ, Dave began playing the guitar at the age of 12, and was self-taught into his early 20's.
He studied classical guitar with Joe Owens at Jersey City State College (JCSC), where he performed with the JCSC Jazz Band under the direction of Dick Lowenthal, and with the JCSC Percussion Ensemble and pit orchestra under the direction of Nick Cerrato. In 1985 he was featured guitar soloist in a performance of Jack Reilly's "Jazz Requiem" for jazz quartet and choir, sharing the stage with the composer and with fellow student, bassist Brad Jones (Jazz Passengers). That same year, one of Dave's own compositions was featured in a Jazz Band concert. Between 1983 and 1986 he performed with guest artists Harold Danko, Randy Brecker, Sheila Jordan and Harvie S. He received his B.A. in Music Education in 1986.
In more recent years, musicians with whom Dave has performed, recorded or jammed include bassists Kermit Driscoll, Andy McKee, Ed Schuller, Dominique DiPiazza and Sue Williams, pianists Rave Tesar, Mark Adamy, Ilya Maslov and Harry Miller, trumpeter Vinnie Cutro, drummers Thierry Arpino, Don Guinta, Bill Tesar, Ray Levier, Don Gardner, Mike Frasche and John Kerswell, guitarists Joe Owens, Vic Cenicola, George Hodnett, Wayne Farley, Scott Sherwood, Kevin Lutke and John Diaz, saxophonists Jack Leeds, Mike Foster and Andy Holland, Dove award-winning producer Plink Giglio, pianist/producer Sal Oliveri and multi-instrumentalist Dave Edwards.
In life and music Dave considers faith to be his greatest asset: "I believe that all good music has its origins in love. For me, that love comes from God. I hope that in some small way, my music brings glory to Him and a sense of His presence to my listeners."
