This is the web page for jazz pianist/composer,
Daryl Johnson.Daryls music is a special blend of jazz-funk and straight-ahead jazz.A talented composer and arranger striking out on his own in his debut solo project"From The Inside".An alumni of Long Islands Five Towns College and Old Westbury University, Mr. Johnson has had the opportunity to learn the art of jazz from some of jazz's greatest musicians such as multi-reedist
Makanda Ken Mcintyre, master percussionist Warren Smith and jazz trumpeter and educator Jimmy Owens,
not to mention a four year tenure at New Yorks highly esteemed JazzMobile Workshop where he came under the tuteledge of such great pianist as Norman Simmons, Dennis Moorman and Ronnie Matthews. In 1988 he formed the jazz-funk group "Touche" which worked exstensively in LongIsland and New Yorks five boroughs. A studious and ambitious musician, hard work and perseverance has led Daryl to work in diverse musical situations ranging from tours with R&B soul group Blue Magic to gigs with fusion bassist Al Macdowell and his group "TimePeace". In 2002 the Daryl Johnson Trio was formed as a vehicle to explore Mr. Johnsons writing and arranging skills and in early 2003 he took bassist Lonnie Plaxico and drummer Lionel Cordew into Brooklyns Famed "Systems Two Recording Studio" and from there "From the Inside" was born and also what looks like a promising solo career for Daryl Johnson, stay tuned.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
Yes, since the release of my CD I am on tour right now in New York City, promoting it in various venues, please check my tour link to find out where my next performance is and maybe I'll see you there. It is always a special moment when I'm able to perform music that I've composed, it gives me a chance to share something that is very special with the world, and those moments are always special.
Your musical influences
My influences range from P-funk to John Coltrane,Stevie Wonder to Sting!Classical to Avant-Garde.I'm always looking for ways to stretch the ear a little more, hopefully i'll achieve that goal.
What equipment do you use?
Right now I use yamaha pianos and synths.
Anything else?
Producing this CD is the culmination of a life-long dream, I've had the opportunity to work with some stellar musicians who contributed above and beyond anything I could have ever imagined.Special thanks to Soundclick.com for coming up with a great concept for independent musicians like myself.

Again such a relaxed one (like Enter The Temple). The difference is that this is old time style.
I like the chord structure. Improvising solos are everywhere while the piano is giving structure.
I like the bass and the cool drums. Good job!
This song is so cool and very relaxed. It sounds like you just play it, very easy, improvising around the theme, playing on your synthesiser.
The base is staying the same (beat and chords) but there are little changes everywhere in the lead.
I like it. The balance is perfect.
Smooth gentle jazz piano with an Attitude!!! Wonderful keyboard work...enjoyed the subtle tone and cool feel to this track... Stellar
This is funky I really like this I am rocking my head now. Mine is not as good, but check it out anyway please?
Much luv from H2D...
