Dan Kilinski
The Dan K. Project is a solo effort. All songs are written, performed, arranged and recorded by myself.
Being a guitarist, the main focal point and voice of all of my songs is the guitar.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
I began playing the guitar when I was around 12, but didn't play and write seriously until I was around 16.
I played in various original bands in the 80's and 90's on the east coast, specifically the NJ/NY area. In the mid 90's, I decided to quit the band scene and write strictly for my own satisfaction. This is when the Dan K. Project was born.
What you hear on this site is a very small sample of an extremely large catalog of songs.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
I greatly enjoyed performing live in the 80's and 90's. I hope to perform live again sometime in the future.
Your musical influences
Lynyrd Skynyrd made me pick the guitar up and I still love them to this day. As I got older, Zeppelin, Sabbath and Judas Preist became prominent influences in my playing, but Van Halen forever changed the way I approached the instrument.
Other main influences include Jeff Beck, Michael Schenker, and Randy Rhoads just to name a few.
Bottom line is, if you play hot guitar, whether it's jazz, blues, pop, rock, funk, soul, country, folk or whatever. If I've heard you, you've influenced my playing.
What equipment do you use?
I use Gibson, Peavey and Ground Zero Custom guitars, Marshall Amps, Ibanez and Boss effects, Fender Basses, and Zoom drum machines.
Anything else?
I like to keep my songs short, catchy and to the point. They are not about being perfect or virtuous, but are meant to capture a moment in time.
I hope you have as much fun listening to them as I did creating them !
