Americana...that's the catch phrase these days for bands that aren't really rock, or country...but something in-between...right? The difference with Daniel Link is that instead of the traditional guitar with the singer/songwriter, there's a piano. Daniel’s haunting passages on the keys matched with his sexy, velvet voice that breaks just at the right moment blend to create the perfect combination for delivering his lyric driven melodies. Daniel is accompanied onstage with the funky mean bass player Johnny Big, formerly of the highly popular band Dysfunction Junction, who wraps his harmony vocals around Daniel's voice like a worn leather coat. This duo is primed for an amazing career, building on what Daniel has spent the past 4 years developing. His Texas following has come to love himon stage and off. Daniel's "Someone in Austin" from the Ghost Stories CD came in at #2 on MAJIC 95.5 FM's 2003 Local Music Countdown...impressive considering Austin is also the hometown to Shawn Colvin, Los Lonely Boys, and Lucinda Williams. When asked how he promotes his music, Daniel says, "the best way to promote music is by playing great shows. Johnny and I just got back from Hollywood and San Francisco and we played our butts offand made a bunch of new friends in the process. That’s what it’s aboutplaying for folkstickling their heartsand leaving them with a feeling that the world is good”
Daniel’s career has seen many promising turns, including Austin Mayor Gus Garcia proclaiming July 11th as Daniel Link Day in Austin. Link’s song “Constant Faithfulness” was selected for the theme song at the 2000 AIDS Walk Austin. And his band has headlined showcases at South by Southwest, and Texas Soberfest for the past two years.Have you performed in front of an audience?I love the road...Brainwash in San Francisco is one of the coolest places I've ver played. I also play alot in my hometown of Austin at Saxon Pub, Momo's...and Stubbs.
Your musical influences
If it were not for Fleetwood Mac, I wouldn't be doing this. I love great songwriters, and Fleetwood Mac has three of the best...Stevie Nicks, Lindsey Buckingham and Christine McVie. I also love engaging singers such as Chris Isaak, KD Lang, and Tom Petty. What equipment do you use?
I have a Kurzweil SP88 keyboard, and a simple Roland amp. I don't need a lot of bells and whistles, just something that produces a pure piano sound.judah82's station

Sweet guitar riffs. Keep it upGood Stuff, Daniel.Keep up the good stuff!Hi Daniel, I just listen to all your songs, great songwriting, vocals and keyboard! Love those guitars also. There was though something bothering me all the time listening....the drummer.... the beat was going back and forth which took to groove out of the songs in my opinion...get yourself a good and STEADY drummer and you're off to the TOP!
"Someone in Austin" is an outstanding track! along with "Angel falls"
Take care! SvenniAll comments (8)
