Da Commission (official)
Da Commission
The hip hop duo called Da Commission aka D.C. are composed of Mihovil and Domagoj Gaspic. The twin brothers were born and raised in Kuwait where the most spoken language was english which explains why they rap in english. They moved back to Croatia to graduate high school where they began to take their talent and business savvy more serious and took it to the next level. They worked the underground circuit in Zagreb in their teens and took part in many battles and events. DC have put out numerous demos over the years and are also the leaders of the Balkan Inc. movement which is soon to be the first successful independent record label in the region.
The group believe that their music and the records they plan to release in the near future will bridge the cultural gaps in the neighboring nations of the former Yugoslav Republic. The two faced alot of problems in the region when promoting their music because most of the labels and industry people said it is impossible to put on an artist rapping in english. They are collaborating with the top urban artists from within the region and because they rap in english they can bring their message to a larger audience. They believe that a byproduct of their success can mean a more active and lucrative industry for all artists in the region. Their mix of english and balkan lyrics have made them interesting to their fans and controversial to others.

Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Started rapping in high school, laid down and dropped a couple of demos. Back in high school myspace and facebook wasn't really jumping like that so we still had to get heard the old fashioned way. That meant hitting the streets and cutting classes to make sure we got our free demos out there in the caffees and nail salons. We were young and just hyped everything up and alot of people were feeling it. We we putting out good energy and people can pick up on it in a second. We did the battles and a few show cases but we always were more focused on doing our own thing.
Da Commission been offered deals in the past but we wanted to go in knowing the business in order to avoid the mistakes most artists make going into the boardroom. We took time to study the music industry and construct our own vehicle which is Balkan Inc. Now we're in the phase of dropping several projects, including one mixtape and an album.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
DC love doing shows, anywhere, anytime. It is the best part of the job, being on the road and seeing so many new cultures and people. Its still wild how we do venues and there are people who know our tracks back to front. Well, it does not happen much but we still shook by the love we've been getting recently. Mad love to the fans, thanks.
The best moment I would say was when we was rocking this private party for a friend of ours in Zagreb. There must have been 300 people in this dudes house and he was still bringing more people. He had a stage set up in his huge backyard and there were a couple of rappers we knew there just chilling. Everybody was drunk, having a good time so the vibe was pretty much perfect. DC hit the stage, we're hyped and our crew is on stage with us pumping up the crowd even more. Throwing bud in the crowd and pouring drinks, it was really wild. By the time we got into rapping it was a frenzy. It was a lot of energy for a group like us who didn't even have a website at the time.
