THE EVOLUTION
Brad Lewellyn and Craig Leach formed Cyclotron in 1996. Both had previously been in bands ranging from punk to metal and their musical tastes were expanding to include techno and industrial. They still wanted to keep that heaviness and power as they set out to write new music with a definite techno feel to itheavy music you could dance to.
Their intent was to create music in a way that they had never done before--without constraints or preconceived notions, without labels or barriers. Through the use of sampling and sequencing they have opened up new and wide vistas of soundscapes that were unavailable in the traditional rock band format. Now, whatever they imagine can be recreated for a live or studio setting.
Their main objective was to create a sound that conveys intensity, brutality and beauty. “We feel that our structures of sweeping atmospheres combined with raw, grinding power, danceable backbeats and the pure roar of rage have created a unique sound,” says Craig.
Outburn magazine rated them 3 out of 3 possible stars "Great!" and a Sideline magazine review said, "the best American demo band I have heard in a long time...the tracks are one after one brilliant and damaging dance assaults."
CYCLOTRON is currently recording a new 8 song CD due out in June 2004.
Their goal is to find a record label that will distribute their music in the United States and worldwide.Have you performed in front of an audience? We do not play live. Brad has developed tinnitus severe enough to keep him from exposing himself to loud situations.
