Curtis Beckman was born in Grove City, Pennsylvania. Brought up on a dirt road in the country near Jackson Center, He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bicycle riding and camping with his family and friends. Feeling forced to listen to classic country music in the back seat of his parent’s car, he always thought rock was the only music he would ever listen to. As a young adult, his ear for music brought him back to his country roots and today loves new and classic country. Curtis will tell you "It's my parents fault!" He was always singing and loved music. He sang in chorus and played trombone in every type of band, from grade school through High School. He always wanted to learn how to play guitar and pursue a music career. Curtis married a wonderful women named Kim and now has three beautiful daughters. He also has been a full time employee as a lineman for the local cable company for many years. He taught himself to play guitar and within a year, was performing in a local club near Hermitage, Pennsylvania, where he resides today. He also started writing songs and joined the NSAI locally and in Nashville. Having his songs critiqued by professional writers has helped him immensely. He and his two oldest daughters started a group and have been entertaining at nursing homes, festivals and fairs for 5 years. He also joined a country band 3 years ago and has performed at fairs, clubs and honkytonks all over N.W. Pennsylvania and N.E. Ohio. Curtis entered a contest on CMT called “ Music City Madness” in late October of 2007. He made a video of himself performing his original song he wrote for his wife, called “Your So Nice To Come Home To.” Picked by CMT and MTV executives, he placed in the top 64 finalists. He did not move on to the second round of the contest but received local attention. Curtis was interviewed and sang his song live on 790 WPIC AM and K105.1 FM. His video was also a part of a show on Country Music Television Dec. 4th10th 2007 called “The Road To CMT.” Curtis and his oldest daughter are now trying their luck in another contest on CMT, called “Can You Duet,” that will air in the spring of 2008. As you can see, Curtis has come a long way in a short time. He has made his way into the hearts of his local fans. He is convinced that being an artist in the music business is where he is destined to be. If given the chance, he can become a professional with the help from someone who is wide open to new and upcoming talent. Curtis Beckman 3489 Longview Rd. I play live with my daughters at fairs, nursing homes and anywhere else that needs entertainment.
I was a teenager in the 80's and love 80's rock but also listened to Waylan and Willie in the back seat of my parents car! That's why I like new Country because it's a mixture of both.
