cult of wedge

Cult of Wedge is the brainchild of Peter John Hackett. I found myself one day, bandless, sitting in front of the computer. I had just bought a music package and was trying to be british and not read the manual, when almost by accident i managed to stick a bass line with a drum break, and the rest as they say is "mystery". I decided early on to keep this a solo project as there was only myself to sue.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
Not yet, as i've had to many "tap" moments.
Your musical influences
I think my sound is a concoction of a devils brew of different sounds from my life.My influences are many, classic 70s prog,(yes, genesis, floyd), english eccentrics(xtc,elo),80s synth classics(japan, human league), modern D'n'b rythms all the way to bubblegum pop.I have a great liking for the avant garde as you will here.
What equipment do you use?
Epiphone lp100 guitar, old Westone bass, fender acoustic,Boss sp202 sampler, pc running cubase, fruity loops, reason 3.0, loads of freeware plug ins and fx, zoom 1201, stylophone, vl tone , red and blue speak n spells, synsonics drums, various sw radios, scanner, dictaphone.
Anything else?
The music of "C.O.W" i sometimes refer to as "a product of my thinking mind". I like to stray away from convention, if a tune sounds Somewhat "dancy" then i'll break with the tradition and go into a different time signature to throw people. I like to abuse sound so it can be unrecognisable from its source. The guitars have crept in as im bored with run of the mill sounds, i like the obscene sound of a distortion pedal. You will hear voices on some tunes, some mine, some not. please do not be alarmed, i mean no harm.
