C-Skills and Prolific
C-Skills and Prolific are one of Florida's finest hip-hop duos hailing from Tampa. Versatility is the one key word that describes C and Pro. Their music has something for every single hip-hop listener. Their forthcoming album, 5 MICS, has something for the clubs, the streets, the block parties, the conscious, the radio stations, the pop crowd and the "true heads." C-Skills and Prolific produce and write their own music, as well as enlisting some of Tampa's hottest producers. C-Skills and Prolific are destined to bring Tampa to the forefront of the hip-hop scene!
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
We were both solo artists working on our solo projects with some of the same producers. We kept hearing about one another from these producers. They all thought that we were the two best emcees that they worked with and they thought that we would be an ill group. We finally hooked up and decided that a group effort would be our best bet. We have been a duo ever since. Our first album, 5 MICS, is done and we are currently performing and shopping the album.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
We do play live all over the Tampa Bay area and the Sunshine State. We also perform out of state. We love live performances, because it gives you your very best chance to interact with your fans.
Your musical influences
C-Skills's musical influences are Rakim (Da god), Rafael Sadiiq, Nas (God's Son), Slum Village, Michael Jackson, New Edition, De La Soul, A Tribe Called Quest, Mint Condition, Intelligent Hoodlum a.k.a. Tragedy Khadafi.
Prolific's musical influences are Jay-Z, Rakim, Nas, Dr. Dre, Slick Rick, Big Daddy Kane, Kool G. Rap, Scarface, LL Cool J, Michael Jackson, Marvin Gaye, Al Green, Santana, Run DMC, KRS-One and Prince.
What equipment do you use?
All we need is two mics!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (And a couple of beat machines, keyboards and turn tables)
