Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Cruz de Hierro was originally founded by Ernesto Bringas in 1988 in Mexicali, B.C., Mexico. The band started with five members and has been evolving since then with several changes in its line-up so as with the style of the music they play. In 1994 they moved to Guadalajara, Jalisco where the band resides to date, acquiring its current members from different rock bands. The band members are: Antonio Toño Bringas Acoustic and electronic drums, percussion Ernesto Neto Bringas Electric, acoustic and Synthesizer guitars. Fernando Pillo Ramos Electric bass and acoustic upright bass, voice Héctor Naranjo Piano, electronic keyboards, percussion, voice Alejandro Carrera Voice The different influences of the members have lead the band to the exploration of genres like heavy metal, neoclassic, progressive, electronic, folk rock, ending with a fusion of them all. As a final result, the genre of Cruz de Hierro is Progressive Metal, with additions of some of the above and harmonies from jazz and classical music. The band members, as Cruz de Hierro or as individuals, have played beside bands like Angra-Basil, Arena - England, Flower Kings - Sweden, Minimum Vital - France, A Peidi Nudi - Italy, Animal Instinct - England, Halloween - France, Témpano - Venezuela, Present - Belgium, Darius - Germany, After Crying - Hungary, Quidam - Poland, Cast, Puppet Show, Boud Deun, Spocks Beard, Par Lindh Project, Illuvatar, Van Den Plas, and Brand Xs guitarist. They have been on TV in Canal 3, of Mexicali; 87.8 Show in Super 6 channel, of Guadalajara. Several radio stations have played their music and interviewed them, such as Estéreo Sol, Canal 66, in Mexicali; Radio Universidad and Sonido 103, Canal 7, in Guadalajara, Lobo radio station in Chihuahua and others in Panama and La Llave Oculta in Argentina. The band has participated in musical tributes like: Rock of the 70's, Dream Theater tribut concert in Guadalajara and Hard Rock, organized by Estéreo Sol, of Mexicali; the drummer also recorded a song for the Mellow Records Camel tribute. In the Expo Rock 97 contest , at Guadalajara, Jal. they obtained a 4th place from over 100 bands. The band has recorded several Demo CD having good reviews from the main magazines of progressive music, including Wondrous Stories - whose director is Rick Wakeman, Progression Magazine and Expose. Cruz de Hierro signed with Musea Records (French Record company wich was a distribution in 75 countries. Cruz de Hierros debut album presentation was in Presidente Intercontinental Hotel, September-16-2000
