Cruel Memory has a simple plan that works. Two people, no guitarist and hevy FX to give off full sound from just a bassist/vocalist/synth programer and a drummer/vocalist.
Band/artist history
OK, here's a quick year by year review: Started first band (Primeunlimited). Nothing happened. First band lineup changed. Wrote lyrics. Band brokeup. Nothing. Cruel Memory first started with initial line up of Marty Bushway, Jesse Johnson and Jason Polchzinski. Nothing got done besides lots of talk, lyrics and cover art. Cruel Memory's line up changed to Marty, Jesse, and Ryan Fagans. Ryan left later that year and was never replaced. Cruel Memory (Mainly Marty but featured Jesse sometimes) Started recording first demo Error Code: 6. Error Code: 6 distribuited for free at the River Valley Technical Center. Song writing in process over the summer. Started recording first underground album that fall. First album () finished and released. Second album ()recorded and finished. Third album () Recorded and released. A very rare EP () was recorded by Marty under the Cruel Memory band name and is barely worth noting. Both band members graguated Springfield High School in Vermont. Jesse bought a drumset and Cruel Memory LIVE started. Played a few shows (9 or so) and started recording a forth album. Fourth album (entitled ) released with moderate sales. Live shows staggering to a halt but will be booking shows for the rest of the year as well as some for 2005. And that's the basics!
Have you performed in front of an audience?
Yes, we do play live. We play locally at a few venues (mostly at The Chester Music Shoppe in Chester, VT) but haven't been playing live very long. We seem to play for the wrong venues. We played a heavy show for an light/acoustic open mic and we also played a show in Ludlow, VT that we thought was a metal show but at the last minute was an "Anything goes" show that eventually turned into a punk show. We were the least known band at the show. We were put last and most of the people left at the end of the main attraction's set. Oh well. Live and learn.
Your musical influences
Our vocals are inspried by KoRn, Nirvana and Orgy. The synths and sound inspired by NIN and Orgy. The rest we do ourselves. We use mainly bass and drums. You can expect a full distorted sound that fits just right.
What equipment do you use?
We use three basses (Ibanez GSR200, OLP MM4, and an Ibanez AEB-(?)), Randal Comander 1 amp, Percisian Plus Drumset with Remo heads, Sabian cymbold (mainly), Big Stubby 2.0mm picks, Nady Drum mics, Sure SM57, Rhythem machine (only on the first 3 albums), Sonar 3 (for recording) and anything else digitally that helps us.
Anything else?
Check out our website, we work hard on it. We also have a Live Journal and are going to be on a radio promotional CD thanks to SWrecords.net
