Raised in the 'Sweet Water Pondz'; as known by its locals, Cross Mindz got in touch with his first rap record and
has been an advocate listener ever since. Intrigued by what some seemed to call 'the art of rap' he started to experiment
by writing and recording tracks together with close friend and classmate Hystwise. During this perticular period Cross
slowly began to realise his place was not behind the mic but on the pads. Being the enterprising individual, he started
saving up some money so he could purchase his equipment to produce beats alongside of rapping.
Soon enough, when at first he had to deal with computer software such as reason, he bought the Akai MPC 2000 XL.
In the summer of 2003, his friend Hystwise introduced him to MOD The Black Marvel who is considered to be a rap veteran
and who happened to be experienced in using the mpc. Cross and MOD teamed up and MOD schooled
him on how to work with the mpc. MOD took his time to show the 'young' Cross the ins and outs
of producing a beat using the mpc, which was exactly what he needed and highly appreciated. As of now he gave up rapping to fully devote his time to beatmaking by doing so for numerous US mc's, local artists and still being the man behind most of Hystwise his work. Word around town is still growing as Cross slowly tries to put his mark on the game and devote his time to better the industry by blessing it with beats.Independent Cats
