Band/artist history
Heres' my bio,a s written by my publicist:
Eric Tyrone Crittenden is a magical wizard of sound who invites you to join him on his soulystic journey.
With over five thousand shows to his credit, Crittenden has been performing on stage since the age of seven. This musical prodigy wows audiences with his magic on sax, keys, and vocals and shows no signs of stopping any time soon.
While he is best known for his work with acid-jazz funksters TheWaz, Crittenden has found himself a member of award winning and socially pro-active groups, dating back to 94 when he was with lastlemming, and again when he was with Buffalo Music Award winning Best New Jam Band, bag., in 98. As front man of TheWaz from 1999 to 2002, Crittenden toured the country and shared the stage with such talent as: Maceo Parker, Melvin Sparks, the Roots, Culture, John Browns Body, DJ Logic and Soulive. Crittenden also led TheWaz in a musical stint backing up Uncle Junior (Dominic Chianese from HBOs Hit series, The Sopranos). TheWaz was also the recipient of many awards including Best New Original Band, Best Recording and Crittenden received the awards for Best Front Man and Best Instrumentalist.
Since departing from TheWaz in 2002, Crittenden has taken the journey to the next level. His latest venture found him trading licks with world renowned Bugaloo pioneer, Melvin Sparks- on a cross country tour and then a high energy gig with bass legend Jerry Jammott. In addition, he has also experienced incredible jams with rock legends Jefferson Airplane, Dickey Betts and The Doobie Brothers. Recently, he teamed up with G. Love and Special Sauce, The Gordon Stone Band and moe. And now fresh off Jam Cruise I/II, Crittenden had the opportunity to connect and play with some of the worlds most talented jammers. Karl Denson, Galactic, The Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Michael Franti & Spearhead and Rob Wasserman. While on the Jam Cruises Crittenden was asked by the people in charge to throw something together for a midnight slot, and so with revolving line ups that included Wasserman, Denson and the Tiny Universe, Jamie McLean and Terrence Higgins of The Dirty Dozen Brass Band and many other guest appearances by the jammers on board, he captured the essence of the cruise by weaving in out of improve, original and cover material leaving the audience breathless!
Crittenden has a new cutting-edge project thats all him. His live-n-soulo show is feel-good jazz, pop-n-soul at its finest hes a one-man band that sounds like and amalgamation of Marvin Gay, Miles Davis and Pink Floyd. Said of his recent original work- Crittendenan improvisational powerhouse a la, On the Corner era Miles Davis...(Jeff Miers, Buffalo News-Gusto)
Crittenden would like to entice your musical soul. His multi-faceted talents cater to a diverse spectrum of genres and audiences. Whether in the studio, or live performance enhancement, he looks forward to sharing his vibes with you in the near future. Peace.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
Yes I do. I'm all over. Currently I ahve been doing alot of different kinds of residencies in my home town, gearing for a big promotional opush domesticaly and abroad. As a multi-instrumentalist, sax-keys-vox, I have a plethora of opportunies to free-lance in addition to my own solo stuff, so that helps with the tour leggs, and the never-ending quest to expand-my-demographic saga ya know?
