Craig Mallaby
My name is Craig Mallaby and i've just finished my Secondary education at Hummersknott School in the North East of England, i am currently 16 and for about 5 years now have been writing songs sometimes to cope with pressures or just to express feelings at the time, i have also written a number of songs with fellow lyricists. I play Guitar, Cello and have had some experience performing on Steel Drums but my favourite instruments are Piano and Keyboard which i have played for over 10 years and am now at Grade 7 respectively.
In September i will be going to New College Durham taking a course in BTEC National Diploma, Peforming Arts(Popular Music) where i will write more songs, record and produce them as well as hopefully perform them at well known venues such as The Customs House in South Shields.
In the future i hope to be a successful singer/songwriter, watch this space.
I'm currently in the process of creating my own songwriting business. Check http://www.craigmallaby.co.uk

Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
In the past i have played a few live concerts on the keyboard and have took part in orchestras, ensembles and also Steel Drum workshops. The last place i performed at was on 18th June 2005 at Watford to help raise money for the Elton John Aids Foundation which say around 1500 raised. My favourite moment in music was going to the Peachtree playback at Townhouse Studios in London in which a certain Coldplay were recording, i heard Elton's album Peachtree Road before it was released and also got to try my hand at Sir Elton's studio piano in which he wrote songs to Billy Elliot the Musical including current single Electricity.
I intend to play a few gigs in Easter and Summer, around the North East of England like Newcastle, Durham, Middlesbrough etc.
Playing Live is great especially if you can make a living from it, again which i'm in the process of.
Your musical influences
Absolutly anything that i can try out i love new styles for piano/keyboard!
My favourite artists are all pianists which include Barry Manilow, Billy Joel and my all time favourite Elton John. I also enjoy music such as Abba, Queen, the Beachboys and anything slow, fast and exciting!! Live music is the best!! And i love writing songs, and the idea of money! It's an easy business!
What equipment do you use?
Roland RS-9, KUSTOM PA.
Currently looking for a Multitrack like a Fostex to improve my recordings.
