Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Courtney Salter is about to release her debut album, much to the excitement of many of her followers. With the album expected to be a success and fame imminent, the exciting, newfangled sound that she has made her own is certain to gain interest from across the world.
The development of her unique style is the result of a lifetime of musical influence. Growing up listening to some of the greats to include Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holliday, Minnie Ripperton, Earth Wind & Fire, Donnie Hathaway, Stevie Wonder and many others, Courtney was always surrounded by different forms of music. Her grandmother was an amazing vocalists. Her parents exposed her to a wealth of music as a child, all of which influenced her development.
Courtney’s musical journey began at age 5 in Washington, DC, when she performed her 1st solo in church and singing the Star Spangled Banner at age 6. It wasn’t until age 10 that she began to realize she enjoyed singing. Much later in her teens, she began to audition for music reality shows where she would be chosen in the top 20 for most events.
After realizing that making music was her main goal, she began to showcase her talent in various venues across Washington, DC, and along the east coast, performing open mics and numerous gigs, making sure that her name and music were being heard by as many people as possible. She was quickly noted for the unique style that she brought to traditional Jazz and R&B music.
As her confidence grew and her style developed, she soon saw a loyal following begin to grow and she became very popular with lots of views on Youtube on a variety of cover songs.
She makes it known that majority of the music she listens to directs her musical development in some way. Finally, after honing her unique sound over recent years, she is now preparing to release several singles. Courtney plans to begin a tour after releasing her songs.
